Horses are the heart of life at La Sofia. Whether you are an experienced rider or getting on a horse for the first time, enjoy a peaceful ride through the Argentine countryside, surrounded by open fields, nature and the rhythm of estancia life.
No previous riding experience is required. Our team will provide a brief introduction before setting off.
Experience birdwatching & Nature
Our bird-watching guests have shown us the variety and number of birds to observe at La Sofia. Nature preservation attracts numerous species. Early mornings are a concert.
During the summers, we are visited by hummingbirds. The tremendous nesting houses of the ovenbird can be seen on trees and posts.

Just 100km away from La Sofia, Buenos Aires invites you to discover its vibrant culture, historic neighborhoods, elegant architecture, and world-class gastronomy. A perfect combination of city life and Argentine countryside.
For shopping or buying polo gear, tailor-made riding and polo boots, Pilar or Buenos Aires, about 50 / 100 km (30 / 60 miles) from La Sofia, are the places to go.
SAN ANTONIO DE ARECO
The estancia is located 16 km (9 miles) from San Antonio de Areco, one of the most traditional towns in Argentina, home of the best silversmiths, painters, and a variety of handicrafts. The Ricardo Guiraldes Museum is the center of Gaucho tradition and can be visited on the outskirts of town.
At the end of the day, the “Gaucho Bar” serves drinks and more in an atmosphere that takes the visitor back in time...and if you get lucky, you may even have the pleasure of listening to a traditional guitar session...
