Our Polo School, certified by the Argentine Polo Association (AAP), welcomes complete beginners, young players, and experienced players looking to improve their game, with professional, personalized instruction in the Argentine countryside.

POLO AT LA SOFÍA

La Sofía is one of the pioneering Polo Schools officially accredited by the Argentine Polo Association (AAP) through its Polo University program.

With two irrigated polo fields, our own polo horses, and small numbers of players, La Sofía offers the space and individual attention to learn, train, and progress.

Training combines three essential elements: polo riding and stick & ball technique, and understanding the game—from rules and positioning to tactics and decision-making.

POLO DAY

A fun introduction to Argentina’s polo world for Newcomers.

Spend a day at La Sofía combining polo, horses, and a traditional Argentine asado. No previous polo or riding experience is required.

Come on your own, with your partner, your family, friends, or colleagues, and enjoy an authentic Argentine experience together.

POLO LESSONS

For guests who come specifically for a polo lesson, from complete beginners to experienced players.

For first-time players, the lesson introduces polo riding, the swing, and the first shots. Experienced players can work on specific aspects of their riding and stick&ball technique and game tactics.

LEARN TO PLAY POLO

For complete beginners who want to learn the sport progressively.

Training develops polo riding, stick & ball technique, rules, positioning, and first-game situations.

For guests travelling to Argentina, the program can be combined with a stay at our intimate boutique hotel, allowing you to stay, learn and train in the same place.

INTENSIVE POLO PROGRAMS

For players who want polo to be the main focus of their stay in Argentina.

Programs can be arranged for one week, two weeks, or longer and, depending on the player’s level and objectives, can combine accommodation, full board, polo lessons, playing chukkers, and horsemanship.

Training intensity and rhythm are adapted to each player.

Each program is created individually according to the player’s level, goals and available time.

KIDS POLO SCHOOL

A fun, safe, and exciting introduction to the world of polo for children from around 6 to 8 years old. Our weekly Polo School on Saturday mornings combines horses, games, and polo, helping kids build confidence, develop their horsemanship, and learn the basics of the sport in a safe and supportive environment.

The focus is simple: learn, ride, play, and have a great time!

STAY WHERE YOU TRAIN

Guests can stay at La Sofía on a full-board basis, allowing their days to be organized around polo, horses, training, practices, and recovery.

Without daily transfers, training can be adapted to the player, the horses, and the best conditions of the day.

Between sessions, guests can enjoy Argentine food, horseback riding, the swimming pool during the summer season, or simply time to relax in the countryside.

With only six rooms, every polo stay remains intimate and personal.

OUR HORSES AND POLO FIELDS

The relationship between horse and player is fundamental to learning polo. La Sofía’s polo horses are carefully selected according to each player’s riding ability, experience, and stage of development.

Training takes place on our two irrigated polo fields, allowing lessons, technical work, practices, and chukkers to take place in the same environment in which the game is played.

STAY AND COMPETE

Throughout the polo season, La Sofía teams compete in official turnaments organized by the Argentine Polo Association as well as in private competitions. For experienced players, we offer the opportunity to stay at La Sofía and participate in these tournaments as part of our teams.

WOMEN'S POLO

Led by Silke and Lolita, women’s polo has a special place at La Sofía. In 2010, our women’s team made history by winning the Handicap Championship of the Argentine Polo Association’s first official women’s tournament.

Today, La Sofía welcomes women of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced players. We offer personalized programs combining riding and polo lessons with practice matches adapted to each player’s experience and skills.

Growing Up with Polo

At La Sofía, Polo has always been part of our family life. Lolita and Julián grew up among horses, spending countless hours in the saddle, learning to play and competing in tournaments in Argentina and abroad.

From childhood memories to a lifelong passion, polo remains a special part of our family’s story and the spirit of La Sofía.
